Dormancy and Prosperity

By Daniella Ayala

Stranded inside the space between stars.
A sorrowful stagnation of thought.
Busy with traditional exemplars,
She lost sight of the narrative and left a midnight blot.

Her companions had already moved along to the March of festivals.
The God of War welcoming them with great procession.
An army of barley stood at attention in intervals,
Invariably swaying to the rhythm of the realm’s gusting impression.

This is what it was to advance through the Milky Way of life.
Stars will die and stalks will grow.
They lamented that she was still grasping strife.
But they suspected that she would soon know.

A warm cognizance spears the void of her past.
Quiescence of the figure must not last and the wheels of time turn all too fast.

Daniella Ayala is a young creative from New York City who seeks to represent reality through the fantastical. Her favorite hobby is reading, her most read genres being fantasy and magical realism. Since she can not physically transform into a dryad or visit Tolkien’s Middle Earth, she makes do in this reality with books. She writes from time to time and hopes that one day she can finish writing a novel as well. Her literary inspirations mostly come from current era fantasy authors such as Maggie Stiefvater, V.E. Schwab, and Samantha Shannon.

When she is not reading or writing you are most likely to find Daniella listening to imaginative and eclectic folk music by The Oh Hellos or tucked under a downy blanket playing cozy video games such as The Legend of Zelda.
